Joe Canterbury
Joe Canterbury is a seasoned international business executive, entrepreneur, and investor with vast experience expanding iconic and emerging consumer brands around the world. In addition to his role as founder and owner of Chaucer Global, he is a co-founder and board member of Topgolf China, Topgolf Southeast Asia, FastMed China, and Redway Global.
Joe spent many years in executive roles with Starbucks and Daimler/Mercedes-Benz and has extensive experience in international business development, licensing /franchising, corporate development / M&A, finance, start-ups, fundraising and scaling businesses. He held senior executive roles with Starbucks International from 2000-2012, helping launch Starbucks in >25 new countries across Asia, Europe/Middle East, and Latin America, along with executing many investments, acquisitions and divestments of franchise groups. During his tenure, he was also based in Amsterdam (Vice President of New Businesses for Starbucks EMEA) and Germany (ran and restructured Starbucks Germany), after which he spent his last couple of years running Global Business Development for the Retail and CPG businesses and left Starbucks after leading its entry into India through a Joint Venture with Tata.
Joe serves on numerous boards and advisory boards of companies based in the US and Asia. He has lived and worked in eight countries and speaks multiple languages. He received his B.A. from Washington & Lee University, a Master’s in International Business from Johannes Kepler Universität in Linz, Austria and an MBA from Texas A&M University.
Meaghan Selger Nutt | Associate
Meaghan is a long time business professional with many years of global operational, management and marketing experience. Meaghan provides operational support in the US and Asia for while supporting Chaucer Global’s marketing and business development efforts, portfolio management, finance, and international entity management. Meaghan is an essential contributor to the success of Chaucer Global and its partners and portfolio companies.
Robert Rota | Financial Analyst
Robert Rota is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin where he majored in Corporate Finance and minored in Marketing. Prior to joining Chaucer Global, he worked at Smith Anglin, one of the highest rated financial advisory firms in Dallas. He specializes in financial modeling, venture valuation, and data analytics.

Brian Magierski
Brian is CEO and Co-founder of Cherubim Labs and serves as Executive Chairman for Asian Urgent Care Development, The franchisee across China for FastMed Urgent Care. Brian has built a global entrepreneurial career over the past 20 years, having founded and grown three software companies, including one that is still operating at scale privately and another that was sold for over $340m to a publicly traded US technology company. Brian holds a BS in Engineering from Cornell University and a MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently resides in Zurich, Switzerland.
Tom Zhu
Tom brings expertise in cross-border E-Commerce,, investment banking, and Private Equity.. Previously, he was CEO International at Red Branding and Trading Group from Korea . Prior to that, Tom was Executive Director and Cross-border Operations Leader at Guotai Junan Securities, the large Chinese Investment Bank.. He has also served as Investment Partner at the Linhui Fund and Partner at Shanghai Southwind Equity and has worked at Clearwater Capital Partners in Korea and Tanglewood Investments in Houston. Tom holds a Master in Finance from Texas A&M University.
